"Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge."
In my oppinion the quote means ignorance to certain knowledge/problem can lead to greater confidence rather than knowledge. It means if we learn something that difficult to understand, it give us lack of confidence rather than give us additional knowledge. Thus, we rather don't learn the knowledge. The form of this space is made from a single rectangular shape with two shapes that have been removed. Thus the ignorance of two shapes cause the shapes become more unusual compare to a simple rectangle

"We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special".
In my opinion, this quote says that eventhough we are "small" or being something so inferior (advanced breed of monkey on a minor planet) we have the special ability to understand something so significant like the universe. Thus, putting ourselves at the very bottom of this space looking up shows the superiority of our understanding hence portraying our intelligence.
